Closing Practice
The session does not end when the movement stops, before closing, time is given to dedicating the merit of the work: whatever has been understood, released, or clarified, to the benefit of all beings and their liberation from suffering. This is not a formality, it is a reorientation of the entire practice away from personal gain and toward something larger.
What follows is the work of integration: bringing the qualities cultivated in practice: steadiness, attention, openness, into the texture of ordinary life, not as an ideal to maintain, but as a direction to return to, again and again, with gratitude for the practice and for the tradition that carries it.
This is the final piece in the Elements of Practice series. Read the series from the beginning with Basic View.
