Session Preparation

Practical Guidelines

(Hawaiian Lomi Ha’a Mauli Ola)

Before the session

A brief pre-session dialogue is an essential part of this work and needs to take place at least one week before the session.

This conversation allows us to clarify the nature of the work, address questions, and assess whether this approach is appropriate at this time.

Please get in touch to arrange a time for this dialogue before booking your session.

On the day of the session

To support the work, you are asked to:

  • take a shower on the same day

  • arrive with fingernails and toenails trimmed short

  • avoid perfumes, aromatic products, essential oils, make-up, or body lotions

  • wear clothes you don’t mind getting oily (oil will also be used on the hair)

  • avoid contact lenses (please bring a lens container or wear glasses)

  • for comfort and safety, please avoid wearing jewellery (e.g. earrings, rings, necklaces, bracelets).

Food, fluids, and substances

Unless medically contraindicated:

  • light or partial fasting is recommended

  • fluids only on the day of the session, if possible

  • last intake of fluids at least 1.5 hours before the session

  • no stimulants on the day of the session (coffee, tea, herbal stimulants, cigarettes, etc.)

  • no alcohol, recreational drugs, or medications such as painkillers, sleeping aids, or decongestants within 48 hours prior to the session

Body preparation

  • legs and face should be clean-shaven

  • body should be clean and free from creams or oils

Health considerations

If any injury or illness arises between the pre-session dialogue and the session itself, please inform me in advance so we can assess whether postponement is appropriate.

Note

These guidelines are offered to support clarity, safety, and the integrity of the session.

If this feels relevant, you’re welcome to book a session or get in touch for further information.
